The inclement freezing weather has not in any way stopped the advance of the building. The walls are going up on the ground floor and the roof is going on. Sealing the building will be a signifcant step towards completion. Mr Batty has offered to do a tour of the site next week for any interested parties. This will take place on WEDNESDAY 15th DECEMBER at 10.15 am. If anybody would like to participate could I please ask you to email me at the school to book a place.
I will also be creating a video link / update of the build next week with Mr McCarey. It will be 6 months since we made the initial video and a signifcant change has happened since then! I hope to have this on the blog before Christmas.
The Head teacher and myself have been invited to give a presentation to 'Bicester Vision' on our plans & aspirations for our post 16 provision in the area and we are looking forward to that.
Applications continue to arrive and I would urge all prospective students to abide by the deadline of January 28th 2011 - as these applications will be given priority.
It is interesting to learn that some pupils have already submitted applications, however, pupils at Cooper Year 11 have to date not received their School Reports with expected GCSE grades in order to complete the application process.
ReplyDeleteCan I ask the number of places that will be available for the 6th form intake in 2011 and whether priority is given to current Year 11 Cooper School pupils, (obviously depending on their final GCSE grades). Many thanks.
Students who have already applied have asked their teachers for predicted grades and supporting signatures. The Year 11 reports will be issued this week which should clarify applications for students. As the closing date is not until January 28th 2011 this should give students / parents time to decide when they have the full information regarding predicted grades and rehearsal examination results. No places will be offered to students until we have the interviews in early February - where students will be issued offers of places if appropriate.
ReplyDeleteWe have received funding for 110 Year 12 places for next academic year and offers of places will be decided by suitability for chosen courses, examination results and the interview. I hope that is clear.
I have previosuly read on the year 11 bulletin page (on the Cooper school website) that a personal statement and a c.v have have to be completed. I know people who go to other various sixth form schools who do not have to do this. Can you clarify whether or not a personal statement and a c.v needs to be completed for January alongisde the application form?
ReplyDeleteThe application form is the only document that needs to be completed for the Sixth Form at The Cooper school.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Year 11's are creating a CV / personal statement for good practice and to support any future applications. I would be more than happy to discuss these during the interviews in February but there is no requirement to submit these with the application.
Thank you
