The Kitchen area
The builders have now installed this and the wooden worktops look very stylish with the white cupboard doors. There are 2 microwaves, a dishwasher, a sink and a range of cupboards for students to store their own goods. When the table is installed it will be a very popular area for students to use. We have also agreed the contract for the 2 vending machines - again, these will be very useful indeed.
Painting of the walls
The walls are beginning to be painted and the colour of the interior wall looks great. The majority of the walls and all the ceilings are white and when we have the furniture installed the rooms will be bright, airy and very contemporary. I wanted the whole building to look like a modern Art gallery but to have the comfort of a coffee house and this remains the vision we are working towards.
The builders are still on track, the opening ceremony and invitations are fully planned and the press will be there.
All I need now is my sixth formers here to begin the whole process.....
I do not actually think I have ever been so excited to go back to school in September!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely comment. Thank you. I also quite agree! Cate Mallalieu-Needle
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is also very excited to return to school and can't wait until the induction.
ReplyDeleteCan you tell me if the students will be given reading and or book lists on the induction day?
Day 2 of Induction (Thursday 21st July) will be a department day. Students will have introductory sessions in all their chosen courses. All information regarding books / preparation will be highlighted by staff. In addition, I have compiled an 'Induction Booklet' for students which outlines all the work for the summer / book lists / research that students will need to do in preparation for September.

Will we be given books - or expected to have lever arch files ?
ReplyDeleteYou will be expected to organise your own notes - files, laptop or a combination. You will find that exercise books will not be suitable for AS level studies. Organisation of all the material and resources you will be given will really support your independent study skills. Hope that helps, Cate Mallalieu-Needle
ReplyDeleteIm very excited! It already looks so nice and its not even finished.
ReplyDeleteI heard that we can bring our laptops to school?
Also, do we need to bring our invited to the induction day?
Thanks
I quite agree - it is and will be a very impressive buyilding! Yes, you can bring yuor laptops to school - they will be invaluable in supporting you in your studies. Also, please bring your invitations to the opening - it is ONLY for those with an invite! With regards, Cate Mallalieu-Needle
